People want to hear good news and nonprofits want a place to share their good works. In order to create a profound increase in the public’s ability to learn about and offer its support to nonprofits, GCC is creating a centralized donation-based Good Cause News (GCN) wire service. GCN will expand public access and learning about the nonprofit world by category, interest and geography making it easy for the media, blogging community, and general public to link to and find important news announcements generated by thousands of charitable organizations. The GCN website is designed to be a community-based resource, providing its participants the ability to share their needs, concerns, and interests.

This new generation of PR professionals wants to make a difference. During these difficult economic times, tens of thousands of charitable organizations will fail. Through GCC’s national intern program, Public Relations Cares, talent will be drawn from the PR/communications industry and academic institutions. GCC’s interns will have the opportunity to do feel-good work with seasoned professionals, develop on-the-job skills, and gain experience and insight into social responsibility.
